Wine Dinner
Back towards the beginning of this section, I and my best friend Jamie went to Wine Lab to complete our wine dinner! Both of us tried a new flight! The flight that I tried was the Old World Flight. The first wine was a Sauvion Muscadet 2020 from France and this was paired with the cheese and cracker plate. The second wine was a Cune Rosado 2021 from Spain and this was paired with the ham and cheese sandwich. The third wine was a Dom. Fontbonau Cotes du Rhode Rouge 2012 from Spain which was paired with the baked brie. Before we ate each of our courses, we tasted the wines first then went on to eat the meal!
For course 1, the Muscadet had a slight acidity to it with a fair amount of lemony and pear flavors. It was also light in its body and fairly dry in nature. When paired with the cheese and crackers, the prosciutto and pimento really stuck out because they brought out more of its acidic flavors but didn't counteract the creaminess of the cheese itself. Overall, a great start to our meal!
For course 2, the Rosado was paired with the main course the ham and cheese sandwich. The rosado exuded a dry palate with fruity accents of strawberries and melons. The ham in the sandwich had its own little spice to it and once paired with the wine, the spice was calmed down by the fruitiness. The cheese also helped calm down the spice and serve as a great medium for all of the flavors. I am not a huge fan of spices so this was great for my taste palate as well as being an avid rose lover.
For course 3, the red wine Rhode Rouge had deep, fruity, and jammy flavors. Jamie and I decided that we wanted the last part of our meal to be on the lighter side since we started off with heavier foods but lighter drinks. Finishing off with the heaviest drink led us to order a light but creamy baked brie. The fruits added to the top of the brie matched really well with the strawberries and blueberries to tie the cheese and the red wine together. Overall, a great way to end our meal!
