Wine Tasting 2

Pinot Grigio California 2020 Menage A Trois 12$ Kroger (where I purchased) Tonight after dance class I decided to crack open a new white wine of mine! This wine was nice and light, dry, and slightly acidic. Because of the late rehearsal, I did unfortunately have this wine while I ate ramen noodles. It tasted not that bad actually with the ramen but probably won't do it again.

Wine Dinner

Back towards the beginning of this section, I and my best friend Jamie went to Wine Lab to complete our wine dinner! Both of us tried a new flight! The flight that I tried was the Old World Flight. The first wine was a Sauvion Muscadet 2020 from France and this was paired with the cheese and cracker plate. The second wine was a Cune Rosado 2021 from Spain and this was paired with the ham and cheese sandwich.  The third wine was a Dom. Fontbonau Cotes du Rhode Rouge 2012 from Spain which was paired with the baked brie. Before we ate each of our courses, we tasted the wines first then went on to eat the meal! For course 1, the Muscadet had a slight acidity to it with a fair amount of lemony and pear flavors. It was also light in its body and fairly dry in nature. When paired with the cheese and crackers, the prosciutto and pimento really stuck out because they brought out more of its acidic flavors but didn't counteract the creaminess of the cheese itself. Overall, a great start to o...

Wine and cheese pairing 1

Over the week, one of my close friends turned 22 and we celebrated at the wine lab! So why not make a blog out of it! I ordered the white light flight at the wine lab. The first wine on the flight was a Paul D. Grunner Veltliner NV from Austria. This wine has dry yet floral with acidic components for its taste profile. The second wine was a Zorzettig Sauvignon Blanc 2022 from Italy and it had a fresh acidity, with minimal floral elements and a minor lemony backbone. Finally, the third wine, Chalk Hill Chardonnay of 2021 from California, focused more on an oaky, almond initial taste followed by a baked apple and pear flavor.  All three of these wines were paired up with the baked brie. The brie paired well with all three wines allowing more of the creamy and lemony backbones of each wine to shine. Brie, in general, tends to pair well with with wines and especially with strawberries and blackberries, the acidic components match up very well bringing an amazing aroma of different flav...

Wine Tasting 1

Cabernet Sauvignon Caymus Vineyards Napa Valley 2020 Fairfield, California Varietal 89$ After going home briefly, I went out to dinner with my family at the famous Cavalier of Virginia Beach. My mother has always been an avid red wine drinker, especially when she has the chance to have an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon. This red wine was big, bold, and full of soft tannins while being balanced out with rustic grittiness. Being from the Caymus vineyards of California, this wine was definitely on the pricier side, so hence the reasoning for getting a chance to drink it with my family. Although I am not a big red wine drinker, this wine has opened up my taste palate to other red wines. I had this wine alongside a medium rare filet mignon and it paired amazingly by matching the flavors and aromas of the steak.
